ZAFOD URGES BETTER REPRESENTATION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

The Zambia Federation of Disability Organizations (ZAFOD) has raised concerns about the insufficient representation of persons with disabilities in governance, 60 years after independence.

ZAFOD emphasizes that true inclusive governance requires the involvement of both marginalized and non-marginalized groups.

In an interview with RCV News, Organization Director, Justine Bbakali noted that individuals with disabilities have not been visible in decision-making structures, which hampers the ability making it difficult for the marginalized voices to be heard.

“Since 1964, persons with disabilities have continued to face challenges in representation within decision-making,” said Mr. Bbakali.

He has since urged both the public and private sectors to work together to ensure that individuals with disabilities have adequate representation.
