ZACL REFUTES CORRUPTION ALLEGATIONS IN CLEANING SERVICES TENDER

The Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) has denied allegations of misconduct and corruption in the awarding of cleaning services tenders at Kenneth Kaunda, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe, and Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula international airports.

The allegations, made by the President of the Cleaning Association of Zambia and currently circulating on social media, have been described by Cooperation  Acting Managing Director Zephania Sholobela “baseless and without merit.”

Mr. Sholobela clarified that the tender process was conducted in a transparent and competitive manner, fully in line with the Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) regulations.

“The cooperation upholds the highest standards of corporate governance and the Board of Directors provides strategic oversight and ensures that all procurement activities are conducted in strict compliance with established policies, procedures, and relevant laws,” said Mr. Sholobela in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Responding to additional claims about the dismissal of certain employees, Mr. Sholobela emphasized that any employment terminations were unrelated to the tendering process.

He warned that the continued spread of such allegations appears to be a deliberate attempt to tarnish the Corporation’s reputation.

Mr. Sholobela also revealed that the cooperation’s legal team is actively reviewing the matter and will not hesitate to take appropriate legal action against those found to be spreading false information.
