ZACA CONCERNED WITH ERRATIC POWER SUPPLY DESPITE INVESTMENTS IN THE ENERGY SECTOR

The Zambia Consumer Association (ZACA) has expressed concern that the country has continued to experience erratic power supply despite government’s massive investment in the energy sector.

Recently ZESCO Limited announced that starting 17th August 2025 power supply will be limited to five hours due to maintenance works at Mamba collieries

Speaking in an interview with RCV News ZACA Executive Director questioned why the investments in the energy sector are not yielding any positive impact.

“It is so unfortunate that from all the investments there hasn’t been any improvement regarding power supply which leaves nothing to be desired”, said Mr. Sakala.

He has expressed concern that loadshedding is worsening, wondering whether the utility Company rely on Mamba collieries to function effectively.

Mr. Sakala has called on ZESCO to come up with its own power plant, saying relying on Mamba will not help the country especially that it is private company which can shut down at any time.
