ZACA CALLS FOR ALERTNESS OVER MPOX

The Zambia Consumer Association (ZACA) says the outbreak of Mpox in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and several West African countries presents a potential public health risk that must be taken seriously.

ZACA Executive Secretary, Juba Sakala, says the steps taken to safeguard Zambia’s borders and to monitor the situation are critical in ensuring the health and safety of the citizens.

Mr. Sakala however commended government for its proactive measures and alertness in notifying the public about the necessary precautions to prevent the possible spread of Mpox into Zambia.

“ZACA urges all members of the public to remain vigilant,” said Mr. Sakala.

He said there is need report suspicious symptoms, practice good hygiene and staying informed to prevent the spread of Mpox.

“We encourage everyone to play their part by being alert and promptly reporting any suspicious symptoms to health professionals,” appealed Mr. Sakala.
