A youth Tech Entrepreneur has advised young people to be innovative, embrace various skills and utilize technology to expand on their sources of income.
HeziTech Enterprise founder, Mr. Hezron Zimba, is among the young people in country who have taken the path of turning their acquired professional skills from university into a business and enhancing job creation in the country.
Mr. Zimba established a Tech company, in 2021, located in Lundazi district and Lusaka, which offers technology and computer related services, including branding and IT courses among others , to reduce illiteracy levels especially in remote areas.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, he explained that he got his inspiration from observing the gap in technology access, internet and electricity challenges in rural areas during his junior secondary school days, in Muchinga province.
He narrated how his boarding school had a fully functional computer lab but lacked qualified computer studies teachers.
“Through my interest, I gained more experience with computer and ended up volunteering to teach my fellow pupils in grade 8 ,and in tenth grade I joined JETS club which introduced me to programming and my interest increased”, he said.
He further said that in his twelfth grade, The Information and Communication University offered him a scholarship upon a successful completion of high school.
He however disclosed that he faced some challenges with convincing his parents of his decision to study Computer Science due to lack of exposure and career guidance in rural communities.
Apart from the Tech company, Mr. Is also founder of an NGO ICT Hub which promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in the community.
