The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) has initiated disciplinary proceedings against four registered nurses and one student nurse involved in a controversial Facebook skit titled “We Listen, We Do Not Judge, Nurse’s Edition.”
Council Public Relations Officer, Mailesi Banda, said the four nurses are registered practitioners, while the student nurse is a finalist who recently sat for the November/December 2024 competence examinations and is awaiting results.
Ms. Banda revealed that the Council has identified the individuals and begun disciplinary action, citing professional negligence as the basis for their investigation.
“All five have admitted to participating in the skit, and the Council is committed to resolving these cases in a thorough and amicable manner,” Ms. Banda said in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She further warned nurses and midwives against engaging in professional misconduct, emphasizing that the Council will not hesitate to take disciplinary measures against those found guilty of violating ethical standards.
Ms. Banda also encouraged members of the public to report incidents of negligence involving nurses and midwives, assuring them that the Council is dedicated to maintaining high professional standards in healthcare delivery.
