UKADZIPALILE INTEGRATED PROJECT CALLS FOR MORE INVESTMENT IN WASH

Ukadzipalile Integrated Project, a member of the Zambia Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) WASH Forum has called for investment in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for an increased productivity of labor force.

Organization Chief Executive Officer, Martin Daka, says access to Sanitation and Water Contributes significantly to increased production and productivity within economic sectors and reduce the spread of waterborne diseases, such as cholera and diarrhea, resulting in high mortality rates.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Daka said this is devasting showing less dignity on the country, hence the need for more sensitization on hygiene and sanitation if the country is to achieve an open free defecation status by the year 2030.

“Private sectors come on board and provide the cooperate social responsibility regarding sanitation and hygiene to reduce the figure that world bank has projected”, said Mr. Daka.

His remarks come after World Bank said Zambia is losing an estimated $194million annually due to the country’s poor sanitation, Impacting the nation’s economy.
