UBZ WANTS ECL TO LEAD THE PARTY TO 2026 ELECTIONS

Opposition United for Better Zambia (UBZ) Party has decided to write to Former President, Edgar Lungu, to ask him to run for the 2026 general elections under the UBZ ticket.

UBZ Party President, Hector Soondo, says this is because the former President’s party, the Patriotic Front (PF) has several unresolved wrangles that may hinder his participation in the coming elections.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Soondo said his party was further compelled to adopt Mr. Lungu on UBZ ticket because he is the most appealing leader to redeem Zambia.

“Zambians have spoken and they want Mr. Lungu back,” said Mr. Soondo.

He said his party will hence write to Mr. Lungu by Friday this week and allow him time to respond to the invitation to head the UBZ Party.

Mr. Soondo said UBZ will still support Mr. Lungu on any other Political Party, even if he refuses to lead the UBZ.
