The Zambia Consumer Association (ZACA) has expressed concern with the increased sale of alcohol and tobacco substances in the Central Business District (CBD) of Lusaka among young people.
ZACA Executive Secretary, Juba Sakala, has noted with concern that alcohol and tobacco substances such as Kachasu, spirits, brandy, Sukho, Kubel, and cigarettes are sold akin to the selling of fruits in the CBD.
Mr. Sakala said that the substances are targeted at young people which he said, is consuming most of their productive time.
“The local authorities responsible are therefore encouraged to enhance enforcement and ensure the substances are only sold in designated areas,” said Mr. Sakala in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
He said if left unchecked, the situation will turn into a national crisis.
