THE CZECH  REPUBLIC TO SUPPORT ZAMBIA IN VALUE ADDITION

The Czech  Republic has committed to help Zambia promote value addition through production of finished products as opposed to the export of raw materials.

Czech Republic President, Petr Pavel, emphasized that  his country’s cooperation with Zambia was special and will be based on the ‘made in Zambia’ concept through value addition.

He said this on Tuesday at the Prague Castle, after Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany Winnie Chibesakunda presented her Letters of Credence, accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic.

“The Czech will not take away any minerals from Zambia but engage in value addition and all the Czech companies that invest in Zambia will do the same,” said President Pavel in a statement.

He has therefore appealed to Ambassador Chibesakunda to ensure that Memoranda of Understanding (MoU’s) are signed in areas of cooperation for implementation.

And Ambassador Chibesakunda appealed for more areas of cooperation to be considered in the health sector.

She also emphasized on the need to promote more cooperation in the agricultural and energy sectors.

This is contained in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, by First Secretary-Press at the Zambian Embassy in Germany, Lubinda Kashewe.
