Alick Nkhoma, a National Committee member of the Special Education Teacher’s Union of Zambia, has encouraged persons with disabilities who were not selected in the 2024 teacher recruitment to remain hopeful and not lose heart.
His remarks follow Education Minister, Douglas Syakalima’s, announcement last week that only 202 out of the 420 reserved positions for teachers with disabilities were filled, as the selection process was guided by subject area needs in line with the new curriculum.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, , Mr. Nkhoma reaffirmed the union’s commitment to advocating for the inclusion of qualified individuals in future recruitment exercises.
Mr. Nkhoma, who spoke through an interpreter, further encouraged unsuccessful applicants to stay strong, keep their spirits high, and remain patient as they await the next opportunity.
