TB PATIENTS URGED NOT TO FEEL SHY TO SEEK TREATMENT

Zambia Association of Private Hospitals, ZAPH, President Abel Mwale has called on the public not to feel stigmatized in seeking Tuberculosis treatment.

Speaking during a media engagement in Lusaka today, Dr. Mwale said most patients fail to seek TB treatment in public health facilities because of stigma, resulting in them seeking medical attention when the situation worsens.

Dr. Mwale said the Tuberculosis Local Organizations Network initiative, and government through the Ministry of Health, is implementing programs to combat TB, in collaboration with other stakeholders, including ZAPH.

“The initiatives include sensitization activities which helps the public to seek medical attention through screening and treatment,” said Dr. Mwale

He emphasized that the TB treatment is free and accessible not only in public health facilities but also the private hospitals.
