TANZANIAN TRUCK DRIVER NABBED FOR SMUGGLING 6 FOREIGN NATIONALS

The Isoka Immigration Office on Monday 29th July 2024, apprehended a 45-year-old Tanzanian truck driver identified as, Godffrey Philimon Mwambogela, for allegedly smuggling 3 Ethiopians and 3 Somalis aged between 16 and 32.

Department of Immigration Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka, says this is after officers from the Isoka immigration office intercepted a Tanzanian registered Howo truck number T 585 DWP, at the Mwaiseni Checkpoint during a routine examination of traffic.

Mr. Nshinka said that the undocumented immigrants were found hidden in a modified compartment near the truck’s chassis.

“The truck belonging to Asood Petroleum Company Limited is believed to have been heading to Lusaka from Tanzania,” said Mr. Nshinka in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He said that all suspects are detained pending investigations while the truck has been impounded to assist with investigations.
