SUSPENSION ON DUTY FOR PRECIOUS STONES AND METALS STRANGE

Lunte Member of Parliament, Mutotwe Kafwaya, has questioned government’s decisions to suspend export  duty on precious stones and metal from 15% to zero.

Mr. Kafwaya argues that this decision primarily benefits a select few individuals who have been granted licenses to trade in precious minerals while depriving the government of significant revenue.

He said this when he featured on Christian Voice’s Chatback program on the topic “National Matters”.

“The government will ultimately lose revenue, while only a handful of individuals stand to benefit from such policies,” said Mr. Kafwaya.

He has since urged government to implement policies that ensure broader economic benefits, particularly for ordinary Zambians.
