Opposition Leadership Movement Secretary General, Jairos Ngoma, has urged government to seriously address concerns emanating from Eastern province that some people are surviving on wild fruits.
Mr. Ngoma said during the party’s recent tour to the province, several people complained of the high cost of essential commodities on the market and have opted to include wild fruits on their day today meals.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Ngoma said government must quickly move in to identify Zambians that may not afford three meals a day and provide emergency social cash transfer.
“The emergency social cash transfer is a short term measure that could be used to address the hunger issues in some parts of the country,” said Mr. Ngoma.
He has therefore called on government to ensure it implements policies that will trigger a price reduction of essential commodities on the market such as sugar, Cooking oil and mealie Meal.
