The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) Board of Directors has appointed, Elijah Sichone, as the new Director General of ERB, effective August 16, 2024.
Mr. Sichone previously worked for the then Ministry of Energy and Water Development and ERB in its inception before moving to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA).
Board Chairperson, James Banda, told RCV News in a statement that Mr. Sichone until his appointment, was the Executive Director at the Regional Energy Regulators Association of Southern Africa based in Windhoek, Namibia, an Energy Regulatory arm of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Mr. Banda said that Mr. Sichone’s appointment comes at a time when the nation is faced with the energy crisis in the electricity sub sector.
“ERB is confident that Mr. Sichone will use his experience and expertise to deliver success and steer the ERB to respond to challenges faced by the energy sector and the nation”, said Mr. Banda.
He has further congratulated Mr. Sichone on his appointment as he settles in his new role.
