SEOM PAYS COURTESY CALL TO MADAGASCAR FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTRY

Head of the SADC Electoral Observation Mission, SEOM, to the Legislative Elections in Madagascar, Justice Florence Mumba, has paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Madagascar in Antananarivo.

Jutice Mumba was yesterday accompanied by Mr. Terry Rose, the Senior Officer for Politics and Diplomacy at the SADC Secretariat, who represented Mr. Elias Magosi, the Executive Secretary of SADC, members of the Troika of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence, and Security Cooperation, from Namibia and Zambia and Tanzania, as well as the SADC Elections Advisory Council.

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madagascar, Kola Emi Haulin, welcomed the SEOM delegation to Madagascar and assured them that the mission was welcome to undertake its mandate of observing the conduct of the elections.

Mr. Haulin emphasised the commitment by Madagascar to ensuring peaceful elections, which he deemed vital to the socio-economic development of the country.

He further extended his best wishes to the mission in its endeavour to deploy observers and undertake a successful mission.

Mr. Haulin committed to facilitating the smooth progress of the mission’s activities in any way possible.

And Justice Mumba expressed her gratitude to the Government of Madagascar for inviting the SEOM to participate in observing the Legislative Elections.

Madagascar had invited the SADC Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM) on 17th April 2024 to observe the country’s Legislative Elections, scheduled for the 29th of May 2024.
