RPP CONDEMNS RISING CASES OF INCEST AND DEFILEMENT

The Republic Progressive Party (RPP) has condemned the alarming rise in cases of incest and defilement, describing them as a grave threat to the moral fabric and safety of society, particularly for women and children.

RPP National Women’s Secretary, Simangele Magodi, expressed deep concern over recent incidents, including a father who allegedly defiled his own daughter while entrusted with her care at the Cancer Diseases Hospital in Lusaka.

Ms. Magodi also cited the case of a 5-year-old girl from Mtendere Compound who is currently receiving treatment at the University Teaching Hospital after being gang-defiled by 4 adult men.

“These tragic incidents are a painful reminder that urgent action is needed to protect children and restore dignity in communities,” said Ms. Magodi in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

She called on law enforcement agencies to intensify their efforts in investigating and prosecuting such cases without fear or favor.

“No perpetrator of these heinous crimes should walk free,” she emphasized, urging the judiciary to impose the harshest possible penalties as a deterrent to others.
