ROOFS BLOW OFF AT LUSAKASA AND LIBALA PRIMARY SCHOOL BUILDINGS

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has confirmed that two schools in Kabwata’s Libala Ward sustained significant damage after heavy downpours tore off the roofs of several classroom blocks.

At Lusakasa Primary School, strong winds ripped off the roofing sheets of a 1×4 classroom block, while another 1×4 block—housing the accountant’s office—was also affected.

Additionally, a 1×3 classroom block that accommodates the head teacher’s office, the school’s ablution block, health room, and a 60.5-meter boundary wall suffered damage.

Similarly, at Libala Primary School, the storm blew off the roofs of a 1×2 classroom block and a 1×3 classroom block.

LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nyambe Bulumba, confirmed the extent of the damage in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He further stated that following an assessment by LCC officials, the Kabwata Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) convened a meeting at Nakatindi Hall to discuss the way forward.

He said that Plans are now underway to prepare architectural drawings and cost estimates for the necessary repairs and reconstruction at both schools.
