Transparency International Zambia (TI-Z) has called on government to consider reducing the Constituency Development Fund CDF allocations to prevent misappropriation and abuse of Public Resources.
TI-Z Executive Director, Maurice Nyambe, highlighted that less than 42% of the allocated funds for community projects were utilized, while the overall program spent only 52.9% of the total government-provided funds.
Mr. Nyambe questioned the rationale behind increasing CDF allocations annually, noting that many constituencies and local authorities lack the capacity to effectively manage and utilize the funds.
“Continuing to increase CDF allocations as seen over the past 4 years will only worsen the governance weaknesses highlighted in the Auditor General’s report,” said Mr. Nyambe in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
