PRISONER RE-INTEGRATION CONCERNED WITH SECURITY AT POLICE CELLS

The Prisoner Re-Integration has expressed concern with weak security measures at some police cells, following the recent escape of 19 suspects from lawful custody in Mansa District, of Luapula Province.

Organisation Executive Director, Derrick Malumo, described the security lapses as a serious risk to public safety.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Malumo said that the porous nature of security at some police cells is putting communities at risk.

“The 19 suspects who are now at large could potentially terrorize residents of Mansa, affecting the overall security situation in the district,” said Mr. Malumo.

He has since urged the Police to strengthen security at all holding facilities across the country to prevent further escapes and safeguard the public.
