Governance expert Wesley Miyanda has expressed concern that the presidential address did not provide a clear road map on the way forward regarding the funeral proceedings.
Mr. Miyanda states that the speech was hanging, giving the impression that it was forced on him because of too much pressure from Zambians.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Miyanda says that the National address was long overdue, stating that it should have been done the moment the nation received the news of the passing of former President Edgar Lungu.
“Making a speech after seven days leaves much to be desired and leaves a lot of questions, bringing more confusion and tension”, said Mr. Miyanda.
Mr. Miyanda is of the view that, had the president addressed the nation earlier than this, confusion and division regarding funeral arrangements would have been avoided.
Meanwhile Mr. Miyanda called on President Hakainde Hichilema to walk the talk about maintaining peace and unity as the country continue to mourn the late 6th republican president.
Mr. Miyanda says that it is one thing to pronounce and another thing not to implement.
