President Hakainde Hichilema is scheduled to undertake a State Visit to Japan from 3rd to 7th February 2025, at the invitation of Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to deepen bilateral cooperation and explore new opportunities in trade, renewable energy, healthcare, and education.
The visit represents a significant milestone in strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Zambia and Japan, built on shared values and mutual aspirations.
In a statement issued to RCV News today, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haimbe, said during his visit, President Hichilema will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Ishiba, focusing on key areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment promotion and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding in strategic sectors to enhance collaboration.
Mr. Haimbe said the President will also hold bilateral engagements with high-ranking officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Fujita Corporation, the Japan Organisation for Metals centering on investments in road infrastructure, renewable energy, and other development projects.
“President Hichilema will also deliver a keynote address at the Zambia-Japan Business Forum scheduled to be held in Tokyo on 6th February 2025 before returning to Zambia on 8th February,” said Mr. Haimbe.
