Opposition Green Party of Zambia President, Peter Sinkamba, has expressed concern with government’s failure to find a sustainable way on ending the loss of lives at Senseli mine in Chingola district.
Mr. Sinkamba was reacting to the latest mine accident where 8 illegal miners died last week after some earth collapsed and buried them alive.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Sinkamba also criticized politicians that he said are allegedly benefiting from Senseli mine through illegal mining.
“One would expect that the mines should close due to the accidents and deaths, but it has continued functioning,” said Mr. Sinkamba.
He has therefore urged politicians benefiting from the mine to be objective and seek to protect the lives of people through discouraging illegal mining.
