POLITICAL PLAYERS CAUTIONED AGAINST POLITICAL VIOLENCE

Zambia Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, says any attempts by political players to take the law into their own hands will be met with the full force of the law.

Mr. Hamoonga was reacting to the call by Tonse Alliance to defend themselves against political violence, in the upcoming by elections, in Pambashe and Petauke constituencies.

He said that no individual is above the law, further urging political parties to report incidents of violence to the nearest police station where they will be thoroughly investigated.

“All political leaders and their supporters should exercise restraint and conduct their activities within the confines of the law,” said Mr. Hamoonga in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Mr. Hamoonga said that the Zambia Police Service will continue to uphold peace, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that Zambia remains a beacon of democracy and stability.
