POLICE CONDEMN MOB JUSTICE

The Zambia Police Service has condemned incidents of mob justice and the destruction of public infrastructure.

Police Public Relations officer, Rae Hamoonga, was reacting to a mob justice incident on January 14, 2025 at 05:00hrs in Mununga, where members of the public damaged a police post after learning of the suspect’s detention.

Mr. Hamoonga said that such acts undermine the rule of law, disrupt public safety, and put innocent lives at risk.

“Public infrastructure, including a police posts is established to serve and protect communities, and its destruction hampers the ability to provide services, leaving citizens vulnerable to criminal activities,” said Mr. Hamoonga in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He has therefore reminded the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands saying that Justice can only be effectively administered through established legal channels.

Mr. Hamoonga encouraged all community members to allow the police conduct thorough investigations and bring offenders to justice through right channels.
