POLICE ARREST 4, FOR PROTESTING AGAINST LOADSHEDDING

Police in Lusaka have arrested 4 people who attempted to protest against loadshedding at ZESCO Headquarters in Lusaka.

Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, says the 4 suspects were picked up at ZESCO Headquarters around 08:30 hours.

Mr. Mwale has identified the 4 as Rizchy Pataky, aged 35, Thomson Luzandi, aged 35, Muputa Ngalande, aged 32 and Nawa Sitali, 25 all of Lusaka.

“They are detained in custody for the offence of Idle and Disorderly conduct,” said Mr. Mwale.

Meanwhile, a one and half year old baby has died after being run over by a vehicle in  Six miles area of Chibombo district.

Mr. Mwale said that police investigations revealed that the incident occurred on July 9, 2024 around 9:30 hours, when the deceased left home to play at the neighbour’s house, where he went under the vehicle, a Toyota Noah bearing registration ABT 9503.

He said that the driver, without noticing that there was a child under the vehicle, started moving thereby running over the baby killing him instantly.

Mr. Mwale said that police have opened an inquiry file into the incident.
