PEP WILLING TO GIVE PARTY PRESIDENCY TO  ECL

Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) Leader, Sean Tembo, says his Party is ready to adopt former president, Edgar Lungu, as party head, who can then run as Tonse Alliance President in 2026, following Mr. Lungu’s expulsion from the PF yesterday.

Mr. Lungu, together with other senior PF members, was expelled from his party by PF Acting President Robert Chabinga, leaving him without a political party he can use as entry point to lead the Tonse Alliance.

But PeP President, Sean Tembo, says Mr. Lungu can take over PeP, and use it to enter the Tonse Alliance as leader ahead of 2026 election.

Mr. Tembo said this when he featured on Christian Voices’ Chatback program on the topic, “ Tonse Alliance”.

And Mr. Tembo, who is also Tonse Alliance Spokesperson said that the factions in the PF are allegedly sponsored by the state and that they will not derail the Tonse Alliance’s decision to settle for Mr. Lungu as their 2026 presidential candidate.

“The PF party can remain with Mr. Chabinga but ECL and his supporters will be accommodated in one  of the political parties in the Tonse Alliance,” said Mr. Tembo.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tembo refuted suggestions that Mr. Lungu was unfairly chosen as Tonse Alliance presidential candidate.

He said Mr. Lungu is the most popular and suitable candidate to lead the alliance in the next election.
