The Media Network on Child Rights and Development has challenged law enforcement agencies to update the public on the outcomes of child defilement cases, including the punishment given to perpetrators.
Organization Executive Director, Henry Kabwe, expressed concern that while police arrest individuals accused of child defilement, the public remains unaware of how these cases are resolved.
Mr. Kabwe said this in Lusaka today when he featured on Christian Voice’s Chatback program on the topic “Why Are Defilement Cases on the Rise in Zambia?”.
“The public should be informed about the actions taken against perpetrators of child defilement to serve as a deterrent to would be offenders,” said Mr. Kabwe.
And Mr. Kabwe urged government to prioritize addressing social issues such as child defilement rather than focusing solely on political matters.
