PARLIAMENTARIANS  URGED TO MONITOR ENACTED LAWS

First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Malungo Chisangano, has challenged members of parliament to monitor and evaluate legislation enacted in their various constituencies.

Ms. Chisangano says enacting laws is not enough in a democracy, saying that there is need for lawmakers to evaluate and ensure the laws are benefiting Zambians.

Speaking when she officiated at the Launch of the Zambia parliamentary caucus on post legislative scrutiny in Lusaka today, Ms. Chisangano said that enacted laws in parliament must serve the intended purpose by changing the lives of the people.

“The Launch of the caucus is to ensure increased monitoring of laws passed in the National  Assembly”, said Ms. Chisangano.

She has also remined lawmakers to put the interest  of the people first when enacting laws.
