The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has allocated One Million, 804 Thousand Kwacha (K1,804,000.00) for the installation of solar-powered streetlights along Children International Road in Lima Ward 30 of Matero Constituency in Lusaka.
This funding, secured under the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation, is currently at Procurement stage.
Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nyambe Bulumba, says the installation of these streetlights is aimed at responding to security concerns from residents in the area, while also enhancing the lighting and aesthetic appeal of the ward and its surroundings.
“In addition, the Local Authority has allocated K360,000 for the rehabilitation of a blown-off roof on a 1 by 3 classroom block at Namando Combined School in Matero Constituency,” said Mr. Bulumba in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
He also said K78,590 has been set aside for grading and roadbed preparation, including the removal of unsuitable materials on selected roads within the constituency.
Mr. Bulumba said these projects are expected to significantly improve the learning infrastructure at Namando Combined School and enhance the road network in the constituency.
