OVER K1.7 MILLION SPENT ON TOWNSHIP ROADS IN LUMEZI

The Lumezi Town Council has spent K1,715,471.23 under the road transport grant for the year 2024, in the grading of township roads and rehabilitation of crossing points in the district.

The grading of township roads commenced late last year with funds allocated from the National Road Fund Agency (NFRA).

Council Assistant Public Relations Officer, Irvin Muyumbwa says the Council is using part of the funds allocated for the rehabilitation of three crossing points on the Chitungulu to Bulete road which include among others Mbuzi bridge, while more crossing points worked on are Ndundundu bridge and Nkanyu footbridge.

“The crossing points on Chitungulu road are being rehabilitated after they were left unprotected following the termination of 197 feeder roads contracts across the country by government in December 2022,” said Mr. Muyumbwa in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Mr. Muyumbwa said it is anticipated that once completed, the new township roads and rehabilitated crossing points will open up Lumezi to massive economic and infrastructure development thereby impacting positively on the development of the district and its people.

He said the Council is also utilizing its earth moving equipment procured under the Constituency Development Fund on the road works and rehabilitation of the crossing points in Lumezi District.
