OVER 1 MILLION FARMERS TO BENEFIT FROM 2024/2025 FISP

Government says it has targeted 1,024,434 farmers for the 2024/2025 Farmers Input Support Programme countrywide.

The programme will be implemented using two modalities, namely Direct Input Supply (DIS) which will target 285,168 farmers in 42 districts and Electronic Voucher (E-Voucher) which will target 739,266 farmers in 74 districts countrywide.

In his Ministerial Statement on topical issues for the 2024/2025 farming season in the National Assembly today, Minister of Agriculture, Reuben Phiri said government is working tirelessly to enhance the farmer’s preparedness for the farming season and to ensure that farmers have access to essential inputs.

“The Ministry has also put up mechanisms to monitor the performance of Agro dealers who were screened and verified to ensure that malpractices are curtailed,” said Mr. Phiri.

Meanwhile, Mr. Phiri cautioned farmers against selling of inputs as this is a criminal offence and anyone found wanting, this will face the law.
