One Vision Alliance has condemned what he termed as “propaganda” speculation surrounding the health of President Hakainde Hichilema.
Organization Country Executive Director Chilufya Luchembe says the insensitive and irresponsible statements on national matters of national interest have the potential to send negative signals socially, politically and economically to the disadvantage of innocent Zambians.
He has since urged leaders in the opposition and other stakeholders to respect the Office of the President and maintain civility and integrity when discussing the health of any individual, particularly the Head of State.
Mr. Luchembe said the level of political and leadership discourse and engagement in Zambia has fallen below acceptable levels set by the country’s forefathers who put the interest of the nation above self and selfish agendas.
He said there is need to work together and promote a culture of respect empathy and truthfulness in the public discourse.
“Let us bring back the respect, dignity and honor to the Presidency, the institution of the Presidency and the one occupying it both the incumbent and the former,” said Mr. Luchembe in a statement to RCV News today.
