NZOVU CALLS FOR CLOSER COLLABORATION WITH ZAMBIA NGO WASH FORUM

Minister of Water Development and Sanitation, Collins Nzovu has called for closer collaboration with the Zambia NGO WASH Forum, advocating for the realization of the human right to water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Speaking when the Zambia NGO WASH Forum paid a courtesy call on hi today, Mr. Nzovu commended the Forum’s support for government efforts, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

He emphasized that addressing WASH challenges requires joint action between the government, NGOs, and civil society.

“My Ministry remains committed to ensuring sustainable and equitable WASH services for all Zambians and looks forward to greater dialogue and partnership with the Forum”, said Mr. Nzovu.

He observed that enhanced collaboration is expected to improve coordination and impact across the sector.

Meanwhile, Zambia NGO WASH Forum Coordinator Bubala Mumba urged the government to priorities the enactment of key water sector laws and policies, while offering the Forum’s technical expertise and partnership in capacity building.

She also called for the formation of a joint task force to create a fair and diversified financing strategy for WASH services and highlighted the need for stronger accountability and citizen participation through transparent monitoring systems.

Ms. Mumba said the Forum is seeking government support for a national strategy to ensure sustainable service delivery, particularly for operations and maintenance, along with regular bi-annual meetings between the Ministry and Forum to strengthen collaboration.
