NHIMA-ECOBANK SIGNS MOU FOR SMART PAY PLATFORM

The National Health Institute Management Authority (NHIMA) in collaboration with ECO Bank  has today launched the NHIMA-ECO Bank smart pay platform aimed at improving accessibility to NHIMA services and enhance transparency and traceability of funds.

Speaking during the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between NHIMA and ECO Bank in Lusaka today, NHIMA Director General, Micheal Njapau, said the payment platform serves as   a reliable, convenient and secure gateway for contributions and payments into the National health insurance fund.

Mr. Njapau highlighted  the platform will also promote timely contributions and reduce defaults which ensures the sustainability of the national health insurance scheme.

“The platform is not just a technological advancement, but a reaffirmation of the  shared commitment to serve Zambians efficiently,” said Mr. Njapau.

Meanwhile, Mr. Njapau said NHIMA has, since inception, registered over 5.3 million principles members, with over 29, 000 employers  registered.

He further said the Authority is also working with service mobile providers to enable those without smartphones, through USSD, have access to NHIMA and contribute respectively.

And speaking at the same event, ECOBANK Zambia Managing Director, Aina Moore, commended the Bank and NHIMA for the collaboration stating that it marks a significant step towards providing accessible, efficient and seamless health care payments for all Zambians.

“This launch is not just about partnership, it is about progress,” said Ms. Moore.
