The Non-Governmental Gender Organizations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has expressed concern over what it termed as growing moral decay that Zambia is witnessing.
NGOCC Chairperson Grace Sinkamba has condemned the manifestation of brothels, including massage parlors, casinos, bars and restaurants that are engaging in illicit immoral activities.
She said the women’s movement has condemned the video that is circulating in which Zambian Socialite Mutale Mwanza is advertising her apartment as brothels that citizens can use to conceal infidelity.
“In a Christian nation we can not be promoting infidelity in the manner Ms. Mwanza’s advert purports to do where she encourages married people to use her facilities”, said Ms. Sinkamba.
Ms. Sinkamba said insults and advert for brothels erode morals especially that young girls and boys regard the socialite as a role model.
She said this in a statement issued on behalf of the women’s movement to RCV News in Lusaka today.
Ms. Sinkamba further called on government and the police to take keen interest in the conduct of some of the businesses such as massage parlors, casinos and some restaurants and ensure the moral fiber of society is tandem with the principles of the national constitution.
