NGOCC CALLS FOR URGENT ACTION AGAINST GBV

The Non-Governmental Gender Organizations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has urged the public to report any incidents of Gender Based Violence (GBV), highlighting the need for urgent intervention and societal accountability.

NGOCC Board Publicity Secretary, Leah Mitaba emphasized that one of the most effective ways to combat GBV is for citizens to step up and report abusive situations.

Ms. Mitaba told RCV News in an interview that GBV cases in Zambia have surged over the past year, with disturbing incidents often going unreported due to fear, stigma, and lack of awareness.

She has since urged all Zambians to break the silence and support victims by ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable under the law.

Ms. Mitaba said NGOCC’s call stresses the importance of immediate action and the role of law enforcement in ensuring that all reported cases are properly investigated.
