A new opposition political party, called Democratic Union (DU) has been launched under the leadership of Ackim Njobvu.
Mr. Njobvu says DU intends to replace what he called outdated self serving politics with leadership that places the needs of the Zambian people first.
Speaking during the launch in Lusaka today, Mr. Njobvu said the party believes that with a focused and responsible leadership Zambia can develop to become a reliable contributor the global economy.
He said there is need for leaders who embody integrity, transparency and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of every citizen.
“We want to promote Domestic Direct Investment even as we welcome Foreign Direct Investment in our country,” said Mr. Njobvu.
He said his party intends to use emergency and national development economic plans to set up strategic national corporations which will provide the government with the much needed revenue for economic development and open doors of job opportunity to 4 million Zambians.
Mr. Njobvu said the party intends to build a solid base for economic transformation by setting up National Resources Corporation for mining precious minerals.
He assured that DU party wants to offer solutions to the many challenges Zambia is facing, by bettering the lives of the citizens.
