The National Biosafety Authority (NBA) has granted Cold Chain Zambia Limited and ABDIMS Sales and Distribution Limited permits to import products which may contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
NBA Communications Officer, Sandra Lombe, says the Permits are valid for 5 years.
Ms. Lombe however, said the companies will have to renew their permits for placing the products on the market every six months to ensure compliance.
“Cold Chain will import and place on the market Frimax Potato Crisps, Frimax Corn Crisps, Taits Crisps and Bokomo cereals while ABDIMS will import Hungry Lion Chip Spices,” said Ms. Lombe in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She said that the decision to grant the two companies permits was arrived at during the 31st NBA ordinary board meeting held on 27th May, 2025 in Chilanga.
