MINING SECTOR SEES $12 BILLION SURGE IN INVESTMENTS

Minister of Mines and Minerals Development, Paul Kabuswe says the mining industry has recorded $12 billion in investments.

He says the development demonstrates government’s commitment to improving the sector.

Mr. Kabuswe said this today, during the first ever Mining and Investment Indaba held in Lusaka under the theme: “Mining beyond Copper, celebrating 100 years of mining”.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kabuswe said although the mining industry has recorded much in investments, government is dissatisfied that copper production has settled at 750, 000 metric tons.

“Government has resolved to meet its target of three million metric tons of copper production within stipulated time frame”, said Mr. Kabuswe.

He has highlighted that the mining sector has continued to be the major contributor to the country’s economic transformation.
