Government has revised the minimum wage for bus and truck drivers to ensure they are in line with the current cost of living and that inflationary factors are factored in.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Labor and Social Security Minister Brenda Tambatamba said the minimum wage for bus drivers has been raised from K2, 200 per month to K3,000, while Truck Drivers will get a minimum of K4, 000 from K3, 000 per month.
Mrs. Tambatamba has further announced the revision of accommodation allowances from $25 to $30 per night trucks without a sleeping cabin while for those with a sleeping cabin, drivers will get $20 per night from $15.
She said that the revised minimum wages which will come in effect on April 15th 2025 come after approval from Cabinet at the last meeting held on December 17th 2024.
