Men’s Network For Gender and Development National Coordinator, Nelson Banda, has challenged policy makers to consider enacting laws that offer stiffer punishment to child defilers in the country.
Mr. Banda says the current laws that punish defilers are passive, saying that there is need to strengthen the laws to have a safe society.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Banda said that the essence of enacting stiffer punishment for child defilers is to send strong warnings to would be offenders.
“Cases of elderly men engaging in sexual activities with minors is still on the rise and there is need to stiffen the laws,” said Mr. Banda.
