The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has urged the pubic to be weary of fraudulent individuals and groups, falsely claiming that funds have been released towards Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and Cash for Work programs, and subsequently soliciting personal details and money from unsuspecting citizens.
Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Principal Public Relations Officer, Liseli Kanyanga, says the disbursement of CDF grants, loans bursaries, and Cash for Work opportunities follows a transparent and structured process managed by government through Local Councils.
Ms. Kanyanga said that at no point will beneficiaries be required to send personal details through unofficial channels or make payments to access the funds or employment opportunities.
“The Ministry strongly urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious messages, phone calls, or social media posts to their nearest Police Station, Local Council and the Zambia Information and Communications Technology ZICTA,” said Ms. Kanyanga in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She has also urged the public to desists from sharing personal documents such as National Registration Cards (NRC), bank details, or any other personal information with unverified individuals.
