MEDIA URGED TO PROMOTE OPEN GOVERNANCE

Bloggers of Zambia Executive Director, Richard Mulonga, has urged journalists to fully understand their role in promoting good governance and ensuring accountability in leadership.

He noted that declining professionalism in the media has resulted in journalists failing to ask critical questions that drive transparency and accountability.

Speaking during a training workshop on the Open Government Partnership Mechanism (OGPM), Mr. Mulonga emphasized the media’s responsibility in advocating for open governance and advancing public interest on key governance issues.

He further highlighted that journalists play a crucial role in transforming governance by fostering transparency, responsibility, and accountability in government actions.

“Open and accountable governance serves as a bridge for effective dialogue between citizens and the government.
