The Subordinate Court of the First Class for the Lusaka District has convicted Clement ChangaChanga to 6 months imprisonment with hard labour, for theft of a ZESCO earthing wire.
Zesco Limited Spokesperson Matongo Maumbi says the latest conviction is a step forward for the company’s efforts to combat theft and vandalism.
Mr. Maumbi said that the conviction further highlights the effectiveness of the Security Services, which conducted numerous activities throughout the week aimed at reducing vandalism, theft, fraud, corruption, and motor vehicle abuse.
“The efforts throughout the week resulted in the recovery of property valued at K235,264.25 and the recording of 14 arrests and 2 convictions,” said Mr. Maumbi in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
Mr. Maumbi said that Zesco has seen a 10% reduction in vandalism cases through out its vigorous effective Security Services.
He stressed that Zesco will continue to employ comprehensive strategies and collaborate with law enforcement to combat all forms of vandalism and theft effectively.
