Luangwa Town Council has commenced the opening of new roads within the district, funded by a grant of over K1.2M from the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA).
This funding is allocated to the improvement of township roads, maintenance work, the installation of culverts and drainage systems, and the addition of 20 streetlights to enhance road safety and visibility.
Council Assistant Public Relations Officer, Annedy Longwe, says the Council has so far completed approximately 5 kilometers of roadwork and installed two portal frame culverts along Mburuma Street.
“The Council expects to receive a final instalment by the end of the year, bringing the total funding for this project to K3,720,000,” said Ms. Lengwe in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She said this initiative highlights a collaborative effort between RTSA and the Luangwa Town Council to improve local infrastructure, benefiting residents and fostering a safer, more accessible community.
