Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Tayali, has expressed concern over long-distance bus operators who continue to transport passengers without installed and functional Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
Mr. Tayali warned that the ministry will not hesitate to take action against operators who fail to comply with this requirement.
Speaking in the National Assembly today, he revealed that the government has observed some long-distance buses traveling at speeds of up to 180 kilometers per hour, describing such behavior as reckless and dangerous.
“Government will not tolerate bus operators who flout these regulations, especially when lives are at risk,” said Mr. Tayali.
He further urged the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) to enhance road surveillance to ensure passenger safety.
