The Opposition Leadership Movement has resounded calls for the translation of the Zambian constitution into the 7 major local languages, arguing that accessibility is key to bridging the knowledge gap among citizens.
Party Secretary General, Jairos Ngoma, says most Zambians are not well vested with the Zambia constitution because of their inability to translate and understand the jargons.
Mr. Ngoma said this in Lusaka today when he featured on Christian Voices’ Chatback program on the topic, status of the mining and agriculture sector.
“The constitution, as it stands, excludes many Zambians from meaningful participation in governance because it’s locked away in English,” said Mr. Ngoma.
He said that translating the constitution into local languages would empower Zambians to fully understand their rights and responsibilities.
