LCC TO IMPROVE ON LUSAKA’S DRAINAGE SYSTEM

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) says it has been working on the city’s drainage systems in a bid to prevent floods.

LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nyambe Bulumba says the council is constructing new drainage systems to improve the city’s ability to handle heavy rainfall.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Bulumba said that the council is not only working on new drainages but as well as maintaining and upgrading existing road drainages to ensure that they are functioning properly.

“Governments efforts to improve Lusaka’s drainage infrastructure is combined with addressing environmental factors to reduce the risk of flooding and mitigate its impact on communities,” said Mr. Bulumba.

He further expressed concern over the continued littering in drainages which blocks the water passage, calling on all citizens to practice good sanitation practices.
